Reflection on sin during Lent

I recently learned from Deacon Shane Cuda at a Cursillo retreat that sin is simply ... "a failure to love."

I wanted to reflect a bit more on this today, which is a day of lent when we are called to prepare ourselves for the resurrection of Jesus and the conquering of sin on Easter.

Sin, therefore, is not by its nature, at first, an act of commission, but rather it is, at first, an act of omission since it begins with a failure to love.

Listen to the Gospel: Matthew 22:36-37
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment."
When you examine your conscience today ask yourself how you have failed to love and thus sinned and then go ask ask God for forgiveness so he can make you clean.
